The Richmond Symphony opens their Symphony Series for the 2025-26 season this weekend in the Carpenter Theatre. The program will be led by Principal Guest Conductor Chia-Hsuan Lin and will feature The American Horn Quartet as guest soloists. The concerts will include music from George Bizet's "Carmen," as well as works by Robert Schumann and Ke-Chia Chen.
I recently caught up with Music Director Valentina Peleggi while she was in town, and we discussed the program on "An Hour with the Richmond Symphony" (Fridays at 5pm and Sundays at 7pm). Performances are Saturday evening (9/20) at 7:30pm (a new time this year for Saturday concerts) and Sunday afternoon (9/21) at 3:00pm. We'll have pre-concert talks one hour before each concert.
